Yet to be confirmed ...
About 4 years ago, in 2011, a madman from Heysham banded together with a group of his fellow inmates to organise Morecambe's first Beer Festival. George Palmer (said madman!) has always had a passion for real ale, and decided the townfolk of Morecambe deserved the opportunity to sample a vast array of beers under one roof. It was also hoped that the Beer Festival would promote real ale within the town, and to encourage more pubs to sell Britain's national drink. Real Ale is seeing a bit of a renaissance, with over 170,000 members of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), and now more than 1100 breweries in the country. The 4th Morecambe Beer Festival has seen a lot of changes, not just in venue (see below) but in the organising committee. Unfortunately George has had to stand down as Madman #1, and has handed over the reigns to Peter Morgan. His hard work over the last 4 years has not been forgotten, however, and we hope that the 4th Morecambe Beer Festival will be something to make George proud.
In the past three years we have used the Winter Gardens, and although it is a wonderful building, it is not really practical to host a beer festival there anymore. We felt that we needed a more manageable and cost effective venue. The Trimpell Club is an ideal place with great facilities. It is only a 10 minute saunter from the railway station, and two minutes from the bus stop at the York Hotel (Lancaster Road). Added benefits of the Trimpell Club as our new hosting venue will be a marquee for outside drinking, and the provision of camping facilities, enabling us to offer weekend festival passes for the first time.
